The Woods and Water Chronicles

There is a special place in this world.

It's the Westfield Camp, actually its just outside of the town of Westfield, WI and a quarter mile from Laurence Lake. This wooded lot is owned by my friend Dan and in my opinion the best purchase he has ever made. I feel honored and privileged to be allowed the use of it. I've been camping on this land for more than a decade. As with most vacation properties there are neighbors everywhere and always much closer than one wishes but with this place it can feel like you are a million miles from no where.

In other words, a bit of heaven on earth or the treasure at the end of the rainbow.

There is something about being out in the woods that recharges my soul and allows me to deal with living in the concrete jungle.

Time moves differently in the woods. The blowing of the wind threw the tree tops, the crackle of the fire, the mirad number of bird calls, the song of the bull frog all add up to one thing...bliss. A time to contemplate life, the universe and everything. And then there is the water element and what better excuse to be out on a body of water than to be fishing. The act of fishing can be rather zen like, but let me tell you, nothing gets the blood moving faster than a fish on the line.

This burnt out boat trailer light has given me an idea

I'll just scan my journal and post that

with a few photo's added for visual stimulation.

I hope you can read my chicken scratch.....

Memeorial Day Weekend 2008

Steph catches her first Fish! And soon after her second!

Steph Catches her first game fish, a nice young northern pike.

Now that she's got the hang of the catching part of fishing, she lands a nice large mouth bass.
